This week the Sprint Cup Series makes its first of two stops at Kansas Speedway. Since this 1.5-mile tri-oval racetrack opened in 2001, the series has ran just one event at the speedway, but this season NASCAR decided to add a second race earlier in the season while keeping the fall race during the Chase. Two practice sessions are set to be…Continue
A Repeat Of Last Weekend Is Likely
With two practice sessions being held this afternoon between qualifying and the race, it should be a little easier to forecast who will be the best picks for the Coca Cola 600. In case you haven’t checked out my …Continue

The schedule this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway is finally back to normal–in my mind at least. There will be a practice session held on Thursday afternoon and qualifying will be held later that night. Friday will be an off-day for the drivers, but Saturday they will get two practice sessions to perfect their cars for the big race on…Continue

This will be my only post this week. Catch ya again at Dover!
The Sprint Cup and Nationwide series visit Darlington Raceway this week for the first and only time this season. Nicknamed “The Lady In Black,” this track should provide an exciting Saturday night race and possibly even a surprise winner: there is only two regular…Continue

CAN MARCOS AMBROSE JUMP INTO THE CHASE?
We’re almost one-fifth of the way through the 2011 Sprint Cup series schedule and there have been plenty of good stories thus far. It all started when Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500,…Continue
If last week’s race at Texas Motor Speedway bored you, I hope you are ready for some intense action this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. In March, NASCAR decided that the size of the restrictor plates for this race would be reduced to slow down the cars and try to prevent the two-car hookups that we saw during theDaytona…Continue

Can Harvick Make It Three Wins In A Row?NASCAR is leaving fantasy racers in the dark once again this week, and while I’m not a fan of this practice schedule they have been running, there is nothing I can do about it. I still calculated average speeds and everything as normal, though, and you can … Continue

After the checkered flag waved at Fontana, I had to sit back and rub my eyes; did Kevin Harvick just beat Jimmie Johnson at one of his best tracks? I think most NASCAR fans–myself included–breathed a sigh of relief that this could possibly be the year that Johnson gets knocked off of his throne. Of course, running second every…Continue
Auto Club Speedway is a 2-mile “D-shaped” oval that is most similar to Michigan International Speedway. One difference between the two is that the track is Michigan has a little bit more banking than the one in California. Two hundred laps are set to be run on Sunday afternoon, making it just 400…Continue

As I said last week, I'm going to post the points standings after each race if NASCAR didn't switch to the new method. There wasn't much change last week when you compared the two, but this week there is more (including a new points leader). It seems like wins actually counted more under the old system, as Edwards would be up one spot, Kyle Busch up three, and Jeff Gordon up three as well if NASCAR didn't make the switch. Below you will find the points standings under the old format with the…Continue
