I guess I'll start with this, then if it pisses you off you don't have to bother with the rest. Hurray for Dale Junior tweeting his thoughts about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem. Protest is as American as apple pie.

Without protesters, women still wouldn't have the right to vote. Without protesters, African-Americans would still be riding in the back of the bus. Hell, without protesters, the freaking Vietnam war would probably still be going on, like the Afghanistan War is obviously going to go on forever because I guess no one cares enough to protest that one.

Good old NASCAR. According to Fox Insider, The "Star-Spangled Banner" was not protested by members of the NASCAR community during their Cup series race outside Concord, N.H. this weekend.

"Part of the explanation may come from the strict warning several team owners gave in the wake of both comments by President Trump and exhibitions by NFL players.
NASCAR icon Richard Petty, a former driver and current team owner, told the AP that he wouldn't accept any protest of our nation's colors.
"Anybody that won't stand up for the anthem ought to be out of the country," he said. "Period."
Additionally, longtime owner Richard Childress said that any driver or crew member protest will "get [them] a ride on a Greyhound bus."

That's the way to let people know we won't tolerate none of that anti-patriotic nonsense in NASCAR. Of course, probably no one much cares because we have exactly one, count'em, one African-American in the Cup Series...and he's part-time. And we treated the one before him like crap. And we will probably lose our only female after this year. And then I guess it will be back to the all-white, all-male series the good old boys prefer.

NASCAR has always been more dictatorial than other major sports.

Okay, as for the race, I found it rather boring. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the Martin Truex, Jr. show. At this point, it almost seems, the rest of the field could spot him 20 laps and he'd just drive through them to the front. Pit penalties don't slow him down; wrecks don't slow him down too much although he'd probably have won without that wreck. They have some magic, I'll admit that. I wonder what it is?

The announcers seemed to have a few drivers they concentrated on, like Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., who doesn't have a prayer of winning the championship. Meanwhile, they barely mentioned Chase Elliott. They never bothered to tell me what happened to Jimmie when he was running about 6th or 7th in the latter part of the race until one of the final pit stops when he was suddenly about 16th. They don't have to dwell on it but maybe just mention what happened.

You can probably tell that I'm a grouch tonight. I'll try to do better next time...if you're still here.

“Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. Hold a musket ball in your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two. There won’t be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so just wait your turn. Take your cleats and socks off to get a real experience.
Then take a knee.
Then, take one at the beach in Normandy where man after American man stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces…the very sea stained with American blood. The only blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.
Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. From Khe San to Saigon…Anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles. There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what flag they represented. When they came home, they were protested as well..and spit on for reasons only cowards know.
Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree heat..Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress..Your number won’t be printed on it unless your number is up! You’ll need to stay hydrated but there won’t be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You’re on your own.
There are a lot of places to take a knee Americans have given their lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That’s what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your liberty.
While you’re on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of ground taken…but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains..every inch marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.
No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans…just American men and women…delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us…blazing a path so you would have the right to “take a knee.” You haven’t inkling what it took to get you where you are…but your “protest” is duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose to defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is retired…
If you really feel the need to take a knee, come with me to church on Sunday and we’ll both kneel before Almighty God. We’ll thank him for preserving this country for as long as He has. We’ll beg forgiveness for our ingratitude for all He has provided us. We’ll appeal to Him for understanding and wisdom. We’ll pray for liberty and justice for all…because He is the one who provides those things. But there will be no protest. There will only be gratitude for His provision and a plea for His continued grace and mercy on the land of the free and the home of the brave. It goes like

I fully agree that protesters have every right to protest, but disrespecting our flag just seems wrong to me, but that is just my opinion, and everybody in our nation has a right to their own opinion,  here is another view,,  take a knee,,

dale jr probably lost half his fans when he said that, atleast half..

eff him and the nfl and anyone who uses the word protest for an excuse to do what they are doing.

go protest the group of mostly men in every major city killing each other over, drugs, money, color, ect or atleats protest the music that glorifies  and celebrates it.

this is America.the flag and its anthem don't get treated like they would treat it in mexico , Iraq or north korea,ect....

to support this "protest" for black criminal rights is insane in any manner let alone spitting in the face of many men and women, black and white who have made sacrifices for those "atheletes" to PLAY ball for millions. that flag represents  those who fought fearlessly and bravely to insure we all can sleep at night after watching a game or race without worry other than "will my team win".....

so "take a knee"....just don't do it in front of me.this is America I love it and those who protect it and they will be honored.

I watched the Talladega race, kind of off and on in between doing dishes and laundry. I know this beloved track has its dedicated fans but I'm sorry folks, I just don't enjoy team racing. I think stock car racing is meant to be an every man for…Continue

Hurray! I got back in synch with NASCAR just in time for the play offs! A couple of months ago, I switched service providers, going from cable to satellite. I think I only saw two races for the duration. Every week it seemed, there was some kind of…Continue
