Suspended NASCAR driver Kyle Larson set to return to racing

On April 11th, Kyle Larson was one of the hottest NASCAR drivers on the circuit. He was in a contract year and looking for a renewal, or a new ride.

On April 12th, he entered an online racing event on the oval at Monza. While attempting to speak to his personal spotter on a private channel, he used the n-word.

By April 13, Kyle Larson was suspended by Chip Ganassi Racing and also suspended by NASCAR. Soon the driver lost most of his primary sponsors in addition to backing from Chevrolet.

The following day, he was fired by Chip Ganassi Racing.

The NASCAR suspension is indefinite. The initial series release also stated the driver must attend a sensitivity class in order to return but that’s not the only factor in returning to the stock car racing world.

NASCAR is set to resume on May 17th at Darlington Raceway. That will be followed by six more races in the month of May. They have not yet lifted the suspension on Kyle Larson.

Larson was also suspended from iRacing, the online racing platform where the word was used. They also happened to sponsor the 27-year-old driver.

Larson is a regular competitor on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series circuit. He also owns a team that follows the tour.

Plan B Sales, a sponsor of Larson’s dirt racing operation released a statement they intended to stick with Larson.

The World Racing Group officials handled the situation a bit differently. He was in violation of Rule 2.2A. However, he was only required to complete a sensitivity class.

“As with all infractions, we communicate directly with our Members and establish the appropriate course of action. Given the nature of this infraction and Kyle’s already public apology, he will be required to complete a sensitivity training course within 30 days of the date of the infraction.”

According to the World of Outlaws, Kyle Larson has completed his sensitivity class. He is now cleared to return to the World of Outlaws.

The news came from the World of Outlaws themselves while speaking to reporters. Though, now statement was released on the driver’s return.

The World of Outlaws has 16 races on the schedule through the month of June. This week, it’s the first in a string of events on the national dirt racing tour that will be held without fans, for a national online viewing.

This Friday night, the World of Outlaws is set to visit Knoxville Raceway in Iowa.

Kyle Larson is set to race the event at Knoxville Raceway.
