My personal recipe:
(serves 4, double recipe for each 4 sausages)
4 mild italian sausages or beer brats
3 plump red tomatoes cut to preference
2 chopped onions (i prefer vidalia onions)
1 chopped fresh jalapeno
1/4 clove garlic finely chopped
1 and a half Heineken (18 oz. total)
Sugar to taste
cut up tomatoes, chop onions and jalapeno and finely chop garlic and toss into pot. pour in 1 12 oz Heineken and simmer til tomatoes and onions soften, adding sugar to taste. Remove from heat and pour into a rectangular cake style pan (unless your pot is all metal)
Add 6 more oz Heineken, slam the other half a beer and open another. :D Place sauce on upper grate of hot grill, vigoursly stir and let stay closed 10 min.
Add sausages on lower grate, grill to perfection.
Add sausage onto center cut hoagie, top with sauce and a stripe of yellow mustard, kick back some brews and enjoy!
