NASCAR NATION-Where NASCAR Fans UNITE!

In 1992, the championship finale was one of the greatest ever. Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, and Bill Elliott were all in the championship hunt. This championship was known for Davey Allison crashing out of the championship, ending of what was his best season. Alan Kulwicki pulled through in the end from an incredible string of final laps.

And in 2016, the same thing happened. It looked as though it was finally Edward's year... again. His heartbreak in 2011 would be forgotten. But then... caution. All of a sudden, of of the most dull races became one of the very best. But it wasn't going for Edwards. Allison's curse spanked him in the head, and he went from winning a championship to a car in pieces.

Jimmie Johnson finally capped off a 7th championship, being the 3rd to ever do so, and the first since 1994, 22 years ago. For the most part, he was last in the battle until 10 to go. He was in the perfect spot, and made the best strategy. Much like Kulwicki. Although his championship was the complete opposite of Johnson, he also executed a perfect strategy.

This was the year Stewart said his last goodbyes. A legendary driver. Much like Richard Petty in Atlanta. Unlike Petty, where he has his car catch fire, Stewart's final run was a bit weak, going 2 laps down most of the race.

It was 1992 all over again. Heated championship battle, dominant driver bit the wall, championship history, and a retiring legend. This was 1992 in the 21st century. And both wrapped up amazing NASCAR seasons.

Here's to 2017!

yes it was but it was a season long battle, not just the last race of the year championship battle.the season long championship battle was so much better to watch and more deserving then the hand out championships..

That's true. 1992 is still the better season by far, but I'm just talking about the last race.

Still, I'd rather watch that insane 1992 battle than the 2016 Chase.

Okay, I'm glad for Kyle Busch that he won at Pocono. He'd come so close so many times, he deserved to finally get his win. He's certainly one of our top Cup drivers and we like our best drivers to be in the Chase with a win. But having said that,…Continue

Well, Joe Gibbs finally won one in New Hampshire with Denny Hamlin. It's hard to believe but this was their first win of the season. Of course, I was rooting for Kyle Larson as I always do when he's one of the front runners. But, oh, well, 2nd is…Continue
