hi everyone.

Sorry for asking what is probably a stupid question, but I am a confused rookie from the UK. I see that the Daytona 500 is next weekend, but see there is a race weekend at Daytona this week, so is this weekend the start of the NASCAR season?

sort of, paul...the race on this sunday is called the  clash..it is a non points race,  it used to be called the bud shootout,  the actual season of points races starts with the Daytona 500,,,

Ok, thanks mate. So this weekends race is a one off, stand alone race. Can't wait as I've been watching Last seasons races on Youtube. Fantastic close pack racing.

exactly...it is for all drivers who won a pole last season, all drivers who were in the playoffs last season, and former Daytona 500 pole winners,.
